The "Troll" name is most closely associated with
the microwave video transmit and receive antenna Skypod and TouchStar lines of broadcast remote control
equipment. These products were developed in the late 1980's
and produced for the ENG market by Troll Technology. These
two product lines were hugely successful, and Troll Technology
quickly became the leading supplier of microwave antenna and
ground based control systems to the ENG industry. In 1995,
Troll Technology was sold to Wescam, Inc., where the Troll
based equipment was integrated with other Wescam product lines.
In 2002, a group of Troll employees, who were instrumental
in developing and supporting Troll based equipment, established
Troll Systems Corporation. Troll's new executive team has
over seventy years of combined engineering, management and
operational experience, and they continue to add industry-leading
talent to the organization. Today, Troll Systems is developing
a new line of products for the ENG and ALE markets and is
also committed to providing continuing support for all of
its legacy systems.
is a leading
supplier of directional diversity microwave ground receive systems, airborne RF antennas and control
systems for the broadcast Electronic News Gathering (ENG), Military, Public Safety, Surveillance and Airborne Law Enforcement (ALE). In 1984, Troll
introduced the first SkyPod, automatic tracking airborne microwave
transmission system for helicopter applications. By the mid
1990's Troll's airborne antenna systems were in service in
all the major US markets and were used to cover world-changing
events.
In 1989, Troll launched the TouchStar line of ground
based control systems. The introduction of ground-based equipment
had a similar impact on the ENG market as the SkyPod airborne
microwave antenna. Many of those original control systems
are still in operation today, delivering nearly two decades of
reliable service.
Troll's TouchStar Controllers are the most widely used ENG control
systems at remote ENG sites in the United States with over
2500 ground control systems now in operation. Troll also has
a significant international presence in sixteen countries
throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia, and more than 150
airborne systems have been fielded throughout these same regions.
Typical applications include broadcast ENG, Airborne Law Enforcement,
Military, Border Patrol, Prison Surveillance and many more.
Today, Troll Systems continues to introduce innovative new
products that include the latest digital technologies. The
all-new SkyLink line of airborne antenna systems provides
the next generation of XNG, ENG, Military and ALE microwave transmission. Troll’s unique steerable SkyLink airborne antenna and onboard C100 map based controller have kept Troll at the forefront of the rotary, unmanned and fixed wing RF communications marketplace. Troll's unique designs improve signal strength and range making it possible to increase the distances between ground receive sites.
With the introduction of the first directional diversity ground receive system, the A600, Troll's state-of -the-art, turn-key microwave video solutions are perfect for new and replacement digital RF infrastructure. And, with Troll's extensive portfolio of remote control, master control and IP network communications products we make end to end video communications possible to and from anywhere in the world.
