Manufacturing /Quality Engineering Technician

Summary

  • Manufacturing /Quality Engineering Technician combines both the Quality and Manufacturing support roles into one position. 

    The position will be responsible for both the creation of assembly procedures as well as creation of quality procedures, test plans, root cause analysis and training of technicians in both QA and Manufacturing departments.

    The primary goal of this position is to enhance quality through better documentation, training and procedures throughout each step in the manufacture of the product.

    The position will interface with Production, Engineering and Configuration Control to ensure the highest quality standards are applied while considering cost and schedule impact.

Responsibilities

  • Helps to support and maintain a Lean manufacturing environment to continually develop and refine production systems to achieve world-class manufacturing standards for quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
  1. Improves existing manufacturing processes.
  1. Develops clear and concise assembly instructions including those for first article builds; to include and reference appropriate points of inspection during assembly processes.
  1. Partners with Engineering to develop appropriate instructional documentation/aids for support of design-to-build transitions.
  1. Supports appropriate manufacturing rules (e.g., fit for purpose, do it right the first time, Plan-Do-Check-Act, etc.) to assure quality.
  1. Helps to analyze and resolve product quality problems and solve complex manufacturing problems, applying knowledge of production methods and quality improvements techniques.
  1. Facilitates (and may lead) continual improvement activities.
  • Supports other projects and initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Technical degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Electrical Engineering or 3 – 5 years of hands on training and work experience in related field.
  1. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software
  1. Experience in electromechanical assembly operations/processes, including understanding and application of leading manufacturing and quality management principles, reading and understanding engineering schematics/drawings.
  1. Experience in the creation of manufacturing documentation including assembly instructions, first article build instructions, checklists, and process inspection reports.
  1. Understands principles of the tools of total quality management, including systematic problem-solving through root cause analysis, design for manufacture and assembly, ISO 9001 procedures, demand flow, bills of materials structure, process plans, and routings.

Physical Demands:

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to work in a manufacturing plant environment.
