Video Downlink Transmit / Receive The SkyLink SP is the first deployable high-gain antenna system specifically developed for the 4.9 GHz public safety band (other bands available 2-15 GHz). The SkyLink SP transmits in a narrow 30 degree cone-shaped pattern directed at the receive sites (unlike Omni systems which radiate the signal in all directions equally), improving range while reducing interference to other users. There is no increase in operator workload as the heading sensor and GPS data keep the antenna automatically pointed in the correct direction.
The SkyLink SP can mount to the skid crosstube or aircraft step. It deploys below the landing skids, eliminating interference caused by the airframe, skids, and external payloads such as camera systems and searchlights.
Installation is quick and easy. The SkyLink SP simply requires the C100 control head and pilot panel for a complete transmission system. The C100 controls all the microwave equipment including radios and encoders. At less than 20 lbs total weight and 22 lbs drag @ 100 knots, the SkyLink SP is appropriate for all aircraft types.
The C100’s moving map is a great spatial awareness tool, indicating the position of the aircraft while simultaneously displaying the location of the remote receive sites and transmission beam.
Internal microwave radios are available as options, reducing overall system weight and complexity.
